How to measure
Bust out the measuring tape, pen and paper - let’s measure where your curtain is going to go!
What you will need:
- Measuring tape
- Pen and Paper to write down the measurements
If you are using your existing curtain track:
- “Track width”
- Simply measure the Track width from left to right
- “Finished length”
- Consider if your curtain will finish just below the sill (short curtains) or if it will finish just above the floor (full length curtains)
- For short curtains: we recommend these finish 100mm below the sill
- For full length curtains: we recommend these finish 5mm above the floor
- Simply measure from the top of the existing track to where you would like the Curtain to finish
- Notes:
- If you have a rod instead of a track then measure from underneath the rod to where you would like the curtain to finish.
- Consider if your curtain will finish just below the sill (short curtains) or if it will finish just above the floor (full length curtains)
If you are measuring for a curtain and a new track:
- “Track width”
- Consider if your curtain will just cover the window, or run longer along the wall
- If it’s just covering the window: measure the width of the window frame, then we recommend to add 10% either side (if you have room) to allow for the curtain to be stacked back off the window when opened
- If you want to run the curtain longer than the window: measure the complete length you want that track to run.
- “Finished length”
- We recommend fitting the curtain track 100mm above the window frame, if you install it on the window frame, you will need a minimum 50mm depth frame to do so (for the screws to go in)
- Consider if your curtain will finish just below the sill (short curtains) or if it will finish just above the floor (full length curtains)
- For short curtains: we recommend these finish 100mm below the sill
- For full length curtains: we recommend these finish 5mm above the floor
- Simply measure 100mm above the window frame to where you would like the Curtain to finish
How to measure
Bust out the measuring tape, pen and paper - let’s measure where your blind is going to go!
What you will need:
-
Measuring tape
-
Pen and Paper to write down the measurements
Consider if your blinds are going to sit outside/above or inside the window frame.
Roller and Venetian Blinds are best suited to being fitted inside the window frame, we only recommend fitting these on the outside of the window if your window frame depth is too small to fit the blind.
If your blinds are sitting outside/above the window frame:
-
“Blind width”
-
Measure the width of the window and add on any extra length if you wanted the blinds to be a little longer than the window. We recommend adding an extra 50mm either side (if you have room) to help block the light when the blind is down
-
-
“Finished length”
-
Consider if your blind will finish just below the sill (short blinds) or if it will finish just above the floor (full lengnth blinds)
-
For short blinds: we recommend these finish 100mm below the sill
-
For full length blinds: we recommend these finish 5mm above the floor
-
-
Simply measure from the top of the window frame to where you would like the blind to finish
-
If you are measuring for a blind that will sit inside the window frame:
-
“Track width”
-
Measure the width of the inside of the frame.
-
Note: Take this measurement in 3 places, at the bottom, middle and top of the window. Use the smallest of the 3 measurements to be your “track width.”
-
-
“Finished length”
-
Measure the height of the inside of the frame.
-
Note: Take this measurement in 3 places, on the left, middle and right of the window. Use the smallest of the 3 measurements to be your “track length.”
-
Fit
Are your blinds going to sit outside/above your window frame? or inside the window frame/window sill?
