Measure your Curtains
First things first, if you’ve bought ready-made curtains in NZ, you need to ensure that your new curtains will fit the window or door you need to cover. Make sure that the curtain rod you choose is longer than the total length of the window, so the curtains will sit out of the way when open and fully cover the window when closed.
You’ll also want the curtain fabric width to be generously larger than the window so that when they are closed, they look nice and full, with attractive pleats, rather than pulled tight and flat-looking.
Curtain placement
Choosing the right place for your curtains to hang is also more important than you may think. Curtains that are hung too low can make a room feel smaller. And if you hang them too high, the curtains may hang awkwardly above the floor, which will look strange.
